Wade's holistic development approach derives from years of relevant industry experience with a committment to research in Interactive Design. Web application development is one area where this all comes together, see NHGIS for a recent example.
On the more creative side, painting and photography have been
other active pursuits, including teaching photography in the
College of Design at the University of Minnesota.

Past projects too numerous on which Wade has worked are hidden behind authentication or firewalls, which is unfortunate for the portfolio. More recently, Wade developed the Ruby on Rails application behind the NHGIS site (see 'Select Data' for the Rails portion); and has also worked on portions of IPUMS. Both sites are big data dissemination projects under the auspices of the Minnesota Population Center at the University of Minnesota.
Associated with the College of Design through his MFA work, Wade has also taught photography. And, unrelatedly, he made a photography book on Beijing. However, this background image is from Seoul, Korea.
